The EU Ecolabel is the voluntary environmental scheme of the European Union. This label of environmental excellence is awarded to products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their life-cycle: from raw material extraction, to production, distribution and disposal. An EU Ecolabelled tourist accommodation has: limited energy, water, and waste production, favours the use of renewable resources and less hazardous substances, and promotes environmental education and communication.
